New Stash….and New Life

Hello there! Well, the summer holiday has arrived and the sun is shining, which is just amazing really. Yesterday Richard made the mistake of parking very close to The Button Draw, a fabulous little gorgeousness shop in Tewkesbury. So I popped in and was tempted by oh so many things, as you can imagine, and Jenny, the owner is so nice you just want to buy things from her! I loved all of the colours in the DMC Natural Just Cotton range that Jenny stocks, especially this gorgeous Coral and a beautiful pale blue called Blue Paradise. Then I spotted this pattern for a Slouch Bag, LOVE! The blue on the pattern is Jade but I preferred my choice and I got a lovely Ivory for contrast. Bit cross,  as I forgot to get a 3mm hook so I can’t start it just yet as the cotton yarn is too fine for my favourite 4mm hook. This will be my holiday project, as we are off to Devon next week and I will give this a go then, can’t wait!

“What is the ‘New Life’ bit all about then?” I hear you ask. I am now in a position to reveal all- in terms of job etc I mean…… phew! I have got a fantastic new role with Gloucestershire Young Carers! I am thrilled to have been chosen by them as I worked closely with Young Carers in my old job and find them to be an inspiring group of young people. Unfortunately the job is part-time, so I will need to supplement my hours and I intend to try and get some sort of crafting projects going. I am already in contact with people about craft workshops locally, so watch this space on that. Exciting times ahead!

Not sure what I have done but for some reason my garden pic is posted twice and I can’t seem to write on it!  Ah well, I just wanted to show you my lovely gift from all of the lovely people that I worked with up until a few weeks ago. I am thrilled with my new garden furniture, and it has spurred us on to have a tidy up out there. As it is the size of a handkerchief you wouldn’t think that it would take too long, but there is still more to do and with sunny weather promised it needs to be at least good enough to sit out in and catch a few rays. It certainly helps the mood when the sun is shining and I am feeling more like myself, although this week has once again been difficult it is definitely getting a little easier. Phew!

If Friends Were Flowers………

…..Then I would definitely pick Maureen! As you know, I’ve not been having an easy time lately, what with one thing and another. So yesterday my lovely friend Maureen gave me this lovely little card that she had made- so gorgeous. And as if that wasn’t enough, she gave me this jar of Thorntons smiley chocolates! A few hours before that my other friend gave me a bottle of fizz too! I am a very, very, lucky lady!

Hello there! Another fun-packed week, more of a ‘merry-go-round’ type of week than a roller coaster ride (thank goodness, at least you don’t need safety belts on a merry-go-round!). I have been very full-on with the job hunting this week. I have applied for five jobs so am sick of writing about myself and thinking of new ways to write ‘I”: as in “I have…. blah blah” and “I am…. blah blah” or even “I feel….”. Yawn…..tedious.  I went to visit a couple of the places that I have applied to- both schools, both seemed like great places to work. Then I had an interview, yesterday, and only went and got a job! Take that ‘unlucky’ Friday 13th, and take that nasty people-who-shall-not-be-named who gave me so much stress six weeks ago! It gave me quite a boost, as I lost a lot of confidence. Not only that, but I have  been shortlisted for the other jobs too! I am overwhelmed with the amount of support that I have had from people, and feel very loved. So, I’m smiling again! Also, we are moving a little further along with sorting out the boys living arrangements and at last they have had a chance to talk about how THEY feel to someone from the court. It’s a start.

On with the craft then guys. Now, remember this little bag? Well, I started sewing the Jubilee themed hex’s together this week and I think they look great. But I’m not sure whether to go with the original  bag idea, or carry on hooking the hex’s and go for an afghan blanket. What do you think? Let me know, as I am poised with the needle here waiting!
